FAQ

What is an eSIM? A digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you scan a QR code and the plan downloads to your phone.

When do I get my eSIM? Your eSIM QR code is delivered by email after purchase. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

When should I install it? At home before you leave, while you're on Wi-Fi. Your plan's days don't start until the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.

When does my plan start? The validity period starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy it.

Does it come with a phone number? No, plans are data-only. Keep your home SIM in for calls and texts, and use WhatsApp, iMessage or FaceTime over data.

Will I still get texts from my Canadian number (e.g. bank codes)? Yes, if your home SIM line stays switched on. Your carrier may charge for roaming calls and texts, so turn off data roaming on your home line.

What does "Unlimited 7 days" mean on the Japan plan? You get 2GB of high-speed data each day, then unlimited data at up to 1 Mbps until the daily allowance resets, for 7 days.

Which countries does the Europe plan cover? 33 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Which countries does the Asia plan cover? 12: China (mainland), Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Is my phone compatible? It must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. See Compatible devices.

I ran out of data. Can I top up? Contact us and we'll help you add data. A top-up also extends your plan's validity.

Can I buy for my whole family? Yes. Each eSIM is for one phone, so choose a quantity of one per traveller. Each gets its own QR code.

Can I move my eSIM to a new phone? No. Once activated, an eSIM stays on the phone it was activated on and can't be transferred.

Don't delete your eSIM. Keep it on your phone until your trip is over. If it does get deleted while your plan is still active, it can usually be reinstalled from the same QR code, so keep your QR email too.

How long do I have to activate it? 180 days from purchase. Your plan's days start when the eSIM first connects at your destination, then it runs for the number of days in your plan.

What currency will I pay in? Check the currency shown at checkout before paying. Your bank or card provider may apply currency conversion fees.

How does it compare with my carrier's roaming? Typical Canadian carrier roaming in Japan works out to about C$126 for a week. A Soar eSIM Japan 5GB plan is C$12.99.

Can I get a refund? Not installed? Full refund, no questions. If it's installed but not working, email us and we'll troubleshoot first. If we can't fix it, we'll decide on a refund case by case. See our Refund policy.
